Ways To Prevent Or Slow Down Hair Loss

If you live in North America then you’ll be sad to hear that there is more baldness happening amongst the population than in Europe. Why? Well it’s no coincidence. Actually the main reason is the different diets. American diets in particular are much worse for the body than the average European diet. This probably has something to do with the fact that American diets consist of a lot of fatty foods and animal proteins, while many fruits and vegetable tend to mysteriously disappear from many menus.

The good news is there are ways to prevent or at least slow down hair loss. Yes, that’s right there are treatments for when you start to lose your hair. Now this is that point when you ask,”But John aren’t you going to tell us how we can avoid the loss of our precious hair?” Well I’m glad you asked, and yes, I am going to tell you some methods that may help prevent or slow down the process of losing your hair. I am however, going to warn you. It might be hard at times, you might have to eat gasp dare I say it, healthy food, you might not like it, you might not want to eat it… but then again you could very well like it who knows.

First of all, let me start with what is probably the second most difficult thing to overcome when trying to keep you hair. I’ll tell you the first thing later. Okay, obviously as many of you have probably guessed already the first thing I will touch on is diet. If you don’t want to end up looking like a bowling ball then you are going to have to change some of the things you’re putting in your body. The typical American diet focuses on a high fat, high-salt diet. Now having fast food every once in a while is acceptable, but having it once a week is not. Why not trying to go home and cook and healthy meal that has appropriate portions of a variety of foods. Yes, I will say you should have some sort of vegetables and fruits on there. Really they do taste good. This is the first step to saving your hair.

However, if your diet is healthy then you may be chemically damaging your hair. Ever heard of those things called dyes? Yeah, well if you use them then they might be contributing to your hair loss. Regular supply of chemicals to your hair to change the color isn’t the greatest thing to ensure longevity. Sure it’ll look good for a bit (unless you dye it some weird neon green) but once it starts to fall out I’m sure you might regret your decision a bit.

However, if you are doing neither of these things then you may have a more difficult obstacle to overcome. Genetics. Your genes are the most difficult thing to overcome. You can’t change your genes…yet. However, you can do some things to slow the speed of hair loss. Vitamin E, golden maidenhair, red sage extracts, and formulas that contain a mix of turmeric with horsetail or oat straw have been proven to slow the speed at which you hair is lost. Also a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in starch may be beneficial.

For women there are three things that may also cause you to start balding. Any hormone change can definitely cause hair loss even if it’s temporary. This mainly occurs during/after pregnancy, during menopause, and occasionally when you take birth control.

Hopefully you’ve found something in this article that actually helps you with your hair problems. You may have found a hair loss treatment that works for you. Maybe you just wanted to stop hair thinning. Either way best of luck.

The Danger’s of Cola

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amanda @ 4:51 pm
You’ve heard about how Cola can cause tooth decay and diabetes, however recent studies have discovered new risks related to drinking Cola. Adults and elders are more at risk to the negative effects of soft drink consumption than children. Osteoporosis is common in older adults; however drinking Cola can contribute to osteoporosis because of the phosphoric acid that makes it bubbly. The acid can actually eat away at your bones making them thin and porous.

Cola has also been found to affect muscles as well. According to a study, drinking large amounts of Cola a day can lower potassium levels in the blood. Lower potassium levels cause’s muscles to become weak and may cause muscle atrophy. The reason soft drinks lower potassium levels is unknown – however, they assume that too much caffeine and sugar in the kidneys causes them to filter out too much potassium.

Even though a soft drink on a hot day satisfies your taste buds, it’s doing more harm than good to your body in the long run. Next time you’re feeling thirsty, have water or lemonade.

9 Ways To Reduce Snoring

If you’ve got a father like mine then when you were growing up you could probably hear him snoring throughout the house. This snoring was pretty intense, not just minor sound that can only be heard if you were in the same room with him, but a ridiculous noise you could hear in every room of the house. It sounded like a combination of jet engines (engines because only one would not begin to describe this noise), and the noise your house would make if it was torn from the ground by a tornado. Yes, it was that bad. So eventually my mother was basically through with having to listen to that and forced my father to at least try something to help the snoring. Fortunately, there were many different options my father could try to prevent him from snoring. What works for my father might not work for you so I have compiled a list of different approaches one can try.

1.Elevate your head as much as possible by either sleeping on more than one pillow or else by sleeping on a thicker pillow.

2.Avoid dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheese or ice cream before bed because these foods can cause the build-up of mucus in the throat.

3.Try sleeping on your side instead of your back. This allows the air to travel smoother and the muscles in your throat to stay a bit tighter and decrease the likelihood of snoring.

4.Avoid a big meal before you go to bed because when your stomach is full of food this puts pressure on the diaphragm and thereby limits breathing passages (this is especially the case if you have eaten fatty, fried or starchy food).

5.Before going to bed inhale steam or sleep in a room where a humidifier is turned on. This will help keep your throat well lubricated.

6.Try using nasal strips. Nasal strips help to open up airways and will make sure that plenty of air can be brought into the lungs.

7.Resist the urge to drink alcohol before going to bed.

8.If you are overweight make an effort to lose some weight. Even losing a few pounds say 10 or so, can make a difference when it comes to snoring.

9.Eat a spoonful of liquid honey before retiring for the night. (I’ve never actually tried this one, but some people on the internet have said that this is a good way to reduce snoring).

5 Foods that Stop Acne

Its true – you are what you eat. If you eat salty, greasy foods, your skin will be greasy and oily. If you eat grains and vegetables, your skin will be smooth and healthy. Here is a list of foods that you can eat to improve your skin and prevent acne.

Whole Grains

Foods with whole grains are great for keeping your skin healthy – they carry tons of antioxidants. Be careful and make sure you read the nutrition facts before purchasing a seemingly healthy choice. For the best whole grain experience, try true whole grains like Millet or Quinoa.

Green Tea

You’ve probably heard of using this tea for another remedy – but green tea is basically good for any ailment. Green tea contains antioxidants that prevent inflammation and stop your breakouts from appearing.

Fish

Omega 3 fatty acids contain an anti-inflammatory that is great for keeping your skin smooth and free breakouts. If you want blemish free skin eat salmon, anchovies, tuna and sardines, or take an Omega 3 supplement.

Fruits and Vegetables

“Eat your vegetables!” You’ve probably heard this before. Fruits and vegetables are of huge importance to your health; however they are also very good at keeping your skin free of acne and breakouts. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables will reduce the amount of oil your skin produces, therefore preventing acne. The best vegetables for your skin are cabbage, parsley, tomato, and cucumber.

Water

Proper skin hydration is crucial for healthy skin free of toxins and oils. Continuously drink water throughout the day every day, and you will notice improvement in your complexion.

Improve your brain Power with Tetris

Tetris is a popular puzzle game that was developed 25 years ago in Russia. The object of Tetris is to put together falling shapes by rotating them with the aim of completing horizontal rows of pieces without gaps.

Researchers in New Mexico have found a link between playing Tetris and improving your ability to think efficiently. 26 teenage girls were asked to play the puzzle game Tetris for 30 minutes a day for three months. MRI scans found that they had improved efficiency in the parts of the brain that are connected to critical thinking, language and processing, and reasoning.

There were also scans that showed increased matter in the cortex in areas associated with intricate coordinated movements and combined sensory experiences such as sight, sound and touch.

A psychologist with the Mind Research Network in Albuquerque Richard Haier said in a press release “We were excited to see cortical thickness differences between the girls that practiced Tetris and those that did not. But, it was surprising that these changes were not where we saw more efficiency – how a thicker cortex and increased brain efficiency are related remains a mystery.”

Researchers hope to further study how Tetris can increase and improve certain areas of the brain.

3 Ways To Boost Your Energy

Filed under: Uncategorized, coffee, energy, hormones, protein, sleep, sleep deprivation, sugar, water — John @ 10:28 am

1.Get A Good Night’s Sleep- This step is the first, most important, and often the most ignored step. I will admit to ignoring this step far too often, but it is extremely important for your body to get the necessary rest to perform daily functions properly. Try getting to bed at 10 o’clock or even before that if you can. Sleeping at 10pm to 7am is much more beneficial to your body than sleeping from 3am to 12pm(noon). The reason has to do with the hormones your body produces during specific times of the night. A good night’s sleep is the first step to gaining more energy.

2.Drink More Water and Less Coffee- This is again one of those rules that I have ignored for far too long. Coffee will tend to burn you out, but if you can cut back your coffee intake to maybe 1-2 cups a day and instead drink water more often then you will notice a significant increase in your energy.

3.Watch Your Diet- Many people, especially now with fast food chains, have forgotten to really look at what they’re eating. Try cutting back on sugars in your foods. Instead of sugary selections pick food that has protein in it. Insufficient protein is a very common reason for fatigue. Try taking some almonds to work instead of that chocolate bar, you’ll probably feel a lot better.
