When should Alli not be taken?

If you have had any past allergic reactions to orlistat, or if you have gallbladder problems or chronic malabsorption syndrome you should not take Alli. If you have an underactive thyroid; a past problem with gallstones or pancreatitis, type 1 or 2 diabet

What precautions should I follow when taking Alli?

Inform your doctor of any conditions you have which may impair the function of your liver of kidneys as Alli may worsen these conditions.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Alli?

Do not administer Alli to anyone under the age of 18. Alli is not supposed to be harmful to developing fetuses, but do inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment.

What are the side effects of Alli?

Severe: Allergic reaction, pancreatitis (symptoms like vomiting, quickened heart beat, upper stomach pain, back pain, and nausea).

Common: oily spots in undergarments, fatty stools, gas with oily discharge, loose stool, lack of control of bladder and bowel movements, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the rectum, darkened urine, jaundice.

Other: Teeth and gum difficulties, cold symptoms, fever, painful throat symptoms, flu symptoms, headache, back aches, slight rash.

How should I take Alli?

Take Alli as prescribed to you by your health care provider, or as specified on the label. Take each dose of Alli with a full glass of water. Take Alli within an hour of eating, or while eating a full meal. If you have a meal that contains no fat, skip that dose of Alli. You may be recommended to also take a vitamin or mineral supplement with Alli; this should be taken 2 hours before and two hours after taking Alli.
