Farxiga (generic name: dapagliflozin) is an oral prescription tablet prescribed for type 2 diabetes mellitus. It lessens the risk of hospitalization due to heart failure among adults with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It can also lessen the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization due to heart failure among adults accompanied by reduced ejection fraction. This medication should be given as an adjunct to proper diet and exercise. This diabetes medication is not intended for type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.
