Description

Generic Name: umeclidinium

Drug Class: anticholinergic

Indications

Incruse Ellipta is an oral prescription inhalation used as a long-term maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It helps prevent and control breathing problems, including wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.

Dosage Forms

This is available in Incruse Ellipta 62.5 mcg umeclidinium.

Mechanism of Action

This long-acting muscarinic agent inhibits the M3 receptor in the smooth muscle, which leads to bronchodilation. It relaxes the muscles around the airways so that they can expand, allowing easier breathing.

Incruse Ellipta – How to Use

Before you take this prescription product, you must read the drug information leaflet or brochure that comes with it. Do not use this oral inhaler unless you thoroughly understand all the information and instructions. Ask your doctor or the pharmacist for further information.

This is usually prescribed once a day. Remember to use this oral drug at the same time each day. Make a dosing schedule so you will not miss your doses. Do not increase/decrease your Incruse Ellipta dosing or use this inhaler more frequently than prescribed. This product should not be used more than once per day.

Step-by-step Guide on using Incruse Ellipta:

  1. Open the inhalation pack by peeling the lid of the tray. Dispose of the desiccant that comes with it.
  2. Check if the counter reads “30”. Each time you use this inhaler, the number will count down by 1.
  3. Open the device by sliding the cover down, and you see the mouthpiece. When you hear or feel a click, it means that the oral inhaler is ready to use. Do not shake it.
  4. Hold the device away from you and exhale fully.
  5. Put the inhaler’s mouthpiece inside the mouth and seal your lips around it. Make sure that the air vent is not being blocked.
  6. Inhale deeply and steadily through the mouth. After, remove the mouthpiece from your mouth and hold your breath for not less than 4 secs.
  7. Exhale slowly and gently.
  8. Clean the device using dry tissue. Close the inhalation device by sliding the cover-up.
