Precaution : Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you have congestive heart failure or heart disease, a history of heart attack or stroke, liver disease, or eye problems caused by diabetes. If you are going in for surgery, be sure to let your surgeon know you are taking Avandamet.
Warnings : When you are getting a type of x-ray or CT scan where a dye will be injected into your veins, temporarily stop taking Avandamet. While on Avandamet, women may be more likely than men to have bone fractures in the following areas: upper arm, hand, or foot. Women using Avandamet may have their menstrual periods (even when you do not have periods for a long time due to a medical condition) and will be able to get pregnant. You will very likely to have hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) if you take Avandamet with the following medications: Diuretics (water pills), steroids (prednisone and others), phenothiazines (Compazine and others), thyroid medicine (Synthroid and others), birth control pills and other hormones, seizure medicines (Dilantin and others) and diet pills or medicines to treat asthma, colds or allergies.
