Indications

Creon 25 is an oral prescription drug used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency because of certain conditions. These conditions include cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, post-pancreatectomy, and post-gastrointestinal bypass surgery.

Creon 25 Mechanism of Action

This pancreatic enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of fats into glycerol, mono glycerol, and fatty acids. It also converts protein into peptides and starch into dextrins and short-chain sugars. It primarily acts as a replacement for digestive enzymes produced by the pancreas.

Before starting to take Creon 25, it is necessary to read the information leaflet or medication guide given by a healthcare professional. This delayed-release capsule is only meant to be taken by mouth. This should be taken with your meals or snacks. Swallow the capsule entirely and drink a full glass of water right after. Cutting or chewing this product is not recommended because it can irritate the mouth and affect the efficacy of the drug.

Always take it exactly as prescribed. Do not increase or decrease your doses. You should also not take this oral drug more frequently than advised.
