Description

Generic Name: budesonide, glycopyrrolate, and formoterol fumarate

Drug Class: corticosteroid, anticholinergic, and long-acting beta 2-adrenergic agonist

Breztri Aerosphere Indications

Breztri Aerosphere is an oral prescription inhaler used as a maintenance treatment for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It prevents and controls symptoms such as wheezing, persistent cough, and shortness of breath.

Breztri Aerosphere Dosage Forms

This is available in Breztri Aerosphere 160 mcg/7.2 mcg/5 mcg inhalation aerosol, which is equivalent to 160/9/5 mcg that is available in the USA.

*The 7.2mcg Glycopyrronium “Bromide” is equivalent to 9mcg Glycopyrrolate, while the 4.8mcg Formoterol Fumarate “Dihydrate” is equivalent to 5mcg Formoterol Fumarate.

Breztri Aerosphere Mechanism of Action

This drug has multiple actions.

First, it acts on multiple cell types and mediators that are responsible for inflammation. Breztri Aerosphere works directly on the lungs to reduce swelling and ease breathing.

Second, it inhibits the M3 receptors of the bronchial smooth muscle, which results in bronchodilation.

Third, it stimulates intracellular adenyl cyclase, which converts adenosine triphosphate to cyclic adenosine monophosphate. Increased levels of cyclic AMP can result in bronchial smooth muscle relaxation and inhibition of the release of immediate hypersensitivity mediators.

How to Use Breztri Aerosphere

Before you use this inhaler, you must read the drug information leaflet or brochure that comes with it. Do not use this oral inhaler unless you thoroughly understand all the information and instructions. Ask your doctor or the pharmacist for further information.

Breztri Aerosphere Inhaler is usually prescribed twice a day, in the morning and the evening. Remember to use the inhaler at the same time each day. Make a dosing schedule so you will not miss your doses. Do not increase/decrease your Breztri Aerosphere dosage or use this inhaler more frequently than prescribed. Avoid using this product if you are using a quick-relief inhaler.

Step by Step Breztri Aerosphere Directions:

  1. Remove the cap. Then, shake the inhaler well.
  2. Hold the device in an upright manner with the mouthpiece down and facing you.
  3. Exhale as fully as you can through your mouth.
  4. Close the lips around the mouthpiece. Tilt your head back and keep the tongue below the mouthpiece.
  5. Press down the inhaler while you inhale slowly and deeply. When the canister stops moving, release the dose indicator.
  6. Remove the inhaler from inside your mouth and hold your breath for 10 secs or more.
  7. Exhale gently. If you need to take another puff/dose, wait for a minute and repeat steps 1-7.
  8. Once finished, replace the cap and rinse the mouth.
